GoodGuide

GoodGuide is a website that rates products on whether they are healthy, green, and socially responsible.  When I remember, I usually try to check the products and food I buy to see where they fall on the GoodGuide scale.  Recently I downloaded the GoodGuide iPhone application, and it is amazing.  The application uses the iPhone’s camera to scan the barcode on a product, and bring up the rating for the product.  Not that everyone has time for this, but I highly suggest trying it just to see what you are buying in the grocery store.
